Begun as an orderly book for the New York Infantry, 27th Regiment, 24 Aug.-15 Nov. 1814; also contains courtmartial proceedings in the case of Richard Hatfield, 17 May 1813, including Hatfield's original letter of defense; Crolius' address at the laying of the cornerstone of Tammany Hall, 13 May 1811; and other materials concerning the Tammany Society, military actions, New York City during the War of 1812, and New York City politics.

William Paulding Jr., a Representative from New York. He was born in Philipsburgh (now Tarrytown), N.Y., March 7, 1770; he studied law and was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in New York City. He was elected as a Republican to the Twelfth Congress (March 4, 1811-March 3, 1813) and served as a brigadier general of militia during in the War of 1812.
